Stop frame process
Bethan and I spent 6 hours in the photography studios, working out how was best to shoot the stop frame. Having drawn out the storyboard with each part of the script and establishing the brand guidelines such as colours, we had few constraints for the stop frame. Through trial and error, we established that the scale of the frames needed to be drastically different to what we first thought. Initially, we thought the scale should be a peeler peeling an a3 piece of paper and actually, a5 worked better.
Sound for animation
Bethan and Elliott conducted a vast amount of sound research into other similar videos to gather inspiration on what would work well. Initially, we struggled with imagining a song for the background but between them, they set out a few guidelines:
- It shouldn't detract from the talking
- Should fit well with the tone of voice of the dialogue
- Fit with Hellmann's tone of voice
By playing songs with the dialogue playing over the top, a suitable song was found. It was upbeat, engaging, fitted with the content of the dialogue and was nearly the right length. Some editing allowed it to fit the length of the animation perfectly.

Elliott also found some sound effects to add to the video which added an additional layer of personality to the dialogue.
